I love doing dog portraits! My dog, Potato, is not only my best friend in the whole world, he’s also my Guru. Potato lives in two states of being at all times: deep breathing or complete joy. I want to be more like Potato.

Below, is a video of me painting a dog portrait for my friend Jodi in MN. Her dog Lenny passed away last year, and she wanted a little 5″ x 7″ painting of him for her bookshelf.

I also painted a little portrait of Louie, for Jodi’s younger sister, who also lost her dog. It was good to focus my mind and paint these sweet pups. When I’m painting a dog, I like to think about how a dog thinks. I try to still my mind, and pay attention to my own deep breathing.
