A friend of mine from grade school saw a time lapse of my dog portraits and asked me to do one of her dog, Rio. He loves to swim and chase the buoy in Lake Minnetonka in MN, so she asked If I’d include the background into the portrait.
It was really fun to work on a larger dog portrait! Getting his mouth and face right was a definite challenge. I had to come back to it every couple days so I’d feel fresh when working on him. I tried to include the scenery from some reference photos she shared as well. I think it turned out pretty cute.
